Dwayne Haskins Update: QB Considering Two More SEC Visits

Dwayne Haskins update as Under Armour All-American Game week begins.

The recruitment of 4-star quarterback Dwayne Haskins is heating up as we enter the home stretch of the 2016 recruiting cycle.

With just over a month to go, Haskins has limited visits left to take, and several teams are hoping they get the chance to impress the Potomac, Md. native.

Haskins told reporters at the Under Armour All-America Game festivities that two SEC teams are potentially on his visit list for January, according to Geaux247.

Neither LSU nor Texas A&M have a quarterback committed for 2016, but both could receive a visit from Haskins in the coming weeks.

The Aggies lost two former top quarterbacks – Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray – to transfers following the regular season.

The Tigers have depth, but adding an elite QB in this class would only help strengthen the position and create more competition.

Haskins is still currently committed to his home-state Maryland Terrapins, but the coaching change has slid the door open for other schools to move in. Former Michigan and Florida defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin was hired as the Terps’ new head coach in early December — replacing Randy Edsall, who was fired six games into the 2015 season.

In addition to LSU and A&M, there are three main programs vying for Haskins’ commitment. Florida, Ohio State and Penn State have all been after the nation’s No. 7 pro-style quarterback. The Buckeyes appear to have the best shot at flipping his commitment, especially after 4-star quarterback Tristen Wallace backed off his pledge to Ohio State in favor of the Oregon Ducks.
