Four-star athlete Jamyest Williams committed to South Carolina on Saturday, giving the Gamecocks 21 commits in the 2017 class.

Will Muschamp can do a lot of things well, and recruiting is definitely one of them.

The Gamecocks landed their fourth commit of the month on Saturday when 4-star prospect Jamyest Williams committed to South Carolina.

He chose Muschamp’s team over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and others.

At 5-foot-9, 173 lbs Williams brings a solid combination of speed, strength and toughness. He’ll likely make the full-time switch to cornerback in Columbia, but with his anticipation and ball skills, he’ll thrive in South Carolina’s secondary.

Ranked as the No. 4 athlete and No. 52 overall player in the nation, Williams is the third of those four August commits with a 4-star rating. He joins safety Hamsah Nasirildeen and offensive tackle T.J. Moore. Three-star defensive tackle M.J. Webb verbally committed on Aug. 19.

Williams’ decision bumps South Carolina up from No. 23 to No. 19 with 21 total commits in the 2017 class rankings.

Before Nasirildeen joined the class on Aug. 16, the Gamecocks weren’t even in the top 25.
