Xavier transfer Larry Austin is reportedly headed to Vanderbilt.

Xavier transfer Larry Austin has reportedly committed to the Vanderbilt Commodores, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

The 6-foot-2, 170 pound guard is a nice pickup for Vandy’s new head coach, Bryce Drew.

Austin averaged 1.9 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists during his two years with the Musketeers. While those numbers certainly don’t stand out, there’s plenty of room for Austin to develop into a solid contributor.

He was a 3-star prospect coming out of high school and averaged a resounding 22.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 steals during his senior year at Lanphier High School. Those numbers alone are enough to have faith in the guard’s potential.

Austin is extremely athletic and has great length in the backcourt. He is a true floor general that can control the tempo of a game and inflict serious damage in transition. Opposing teams cannot get lazy on transition defense when Austin is on the floor.

Joining Austin in the incoming 2016 class is 4-star power forward and No. 70 overall recruit, Clevon Brown, as well as 3-star shooting guard Payton Willis.

Due to NCAA transfer rules, Austin must sit out the upcoming 2016-17 season but will have two years of eligibility remaining starting in the 2017-18 season.
