Marshon Lattimore was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of Week following Ohio State’s win over Tulsa.

Ohio State cornerback Marshon Lattimore had himself quite the game in Week 2.

Lattimore, a redshirt sophomore, recorded three tackles and two interceptions – one on the very first play of the game and the other a 40-yard pick six in the second quarter that gave the Buckeyes a 20-3 lead over Tulsa.

For his effort in Ohio State’s 48-3 victory over the Golden Hurricane, Lattimore was named the Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week.

The Buckeyes have yet to give up a touchdown on defense this season, only surrendering two field goals, one apiece to Bowling Green and Tulsa. The lone touchdown put on the board against Ohio State was an interception returned for a touchdown by the Falcons.

Lattimore was sidelined for all of his freshman season with the Buckeyes after undergoing surgery to fix a chronic hamstring issue. He played in seven of the team’s first eight games as a redshirt freshman before ultimately missing the second half of last season due to lingering issues with his leg.

Next up for Ohio State is a non-conference showdown at Oklahoma on Saturday, Sept. 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
