Everything you need to know about the Michigan State vs. Northwestern online live stream and TV broadcast, as well as game notes and prediction.
The No. 12 Michigan State Spartans will travel to Evanston, Ill. to take on the Northwestern Wildcats in Welsh-Ryan Arena Thursday night.
The Spartans (17-4, 4-4 Big Ten) snapped their three-game losing streak in a big way last Saturday, knocking off the No. 7 Maryland Terrapins, 74-65. Michigan State led for nearly the entire game and was able to hold off a Maryland push late with key rebounds and free throws. The Spartans received big contributions from Bryn Forbes (25 points), Denzel Valentine (19 points, 14 rebounds) and Matt Costello (15 points, 12 rebounds). Forbes was held to 17 points in all three of Michigan State’s previous losses combined, so it was very important for the Spartans to get him going.
The Wildcats (15-6, 3-5 Big Ten) have dropped their last three games, including a 89-57 thrashing by the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington, Ind. last time out. Indiana got out to a hot start from the jump leading 10-0 before Northwestern could get on the board. The Hoosiers led, 43-26, at the half and never saw their lead dip below 18 points the rest of the way. Alex Olah led all scorers with 19 points, and Tre Demps chipped in 17 of his own. But it wasn’t enough, as the Wildcats had no answers for the Hoosiers’ offensive onslaught.
Michigan State and Northwestern will face off for the 126th time on Thursday night. The Spartans lead the series 87-38 all-time. The Wildcats haven’t knocked off the Spartans since January of 2012.
