The No. 20 Pittsburgh Panthers will travel to Louisville to take on the No. 21-ranked Cardinals on Thursday night.
The Panthers (14-1, 3-0 ACC) have been on a tear since losing at home to Purdue on Dec. 1, winning 10 consecutive games. That includes their 86-82 victory over Notre Dame in South Bend last time out. The Irish clawed back from two 18-point deficits and came as close as 84-82 with seconds remaining, but James Robinson would sink a pair of free throws to seal the win. Michael Young led Pitt with a team-high 25 points. Jamel Artis (19) and Sheldon Jeter (18) also finished in double figures for the Panthers. Looking ahead, Pitt will return home to take on Boston College this Saturday.
The Cardinals (13-3, 2-1 ACC) have won two of their last three games, unfortunately the loss came at the hands of the Clemson Tigers, 66-62, last time out. Louisville was able to cut an 11-point deficit to two in the game’s final seconds, but Clemson converted late free throws to hold on. It was a struggle offensively for the Cardinals as Chinanu Onuaku (14 points) and Trey Lewis (10) were the only players to finish in double figures. Damion Lee, the team’s leading scorer, was held to six points on 2-of-12 shooting, including 0-of-7 from three-point range. Louisville will get a bit of break after Pitt, as their next game isn’t until Jan. 20 against Florida State.
Thursday’s game is the 16th meeting between Pittsburgh and Louisville with the Cardinals leading the series 10-5 all-time. Louisville is 6-1 in the series at home.

Artis has been shooting the ball really well the past couple of games, and that will continue against Louisville. He and Young will each hit double figures. The entire team will do a solid job of keeping Onuaku off the offensive glass by boxing out and snagging the ball above the rim. Lee will shoot better this time around, but he won’t knock down enough threes to separate Louisville from Pitt. Onuaku will flirt with a double-double but fall just short, as the Panthers steal one on the road.
