American Takes Down Volleyball In Three

BALTIMORE – Alisah Cash hit .500 and had a career-high seven kills for Loyola University Maryland, but American University hit .407 and swept the Greyhounds, 25-12, 25-19, 25-18, in Patriot League action.

The Eagles (16-5 overall, 8-0 Patriot League) hit .440 in the opening match and scored 17 of the frame’s final 20 points after Loyola took a 9-8 advantage.

Loyola (6-6, 1-6) trailed, 6-1, in the early going, but a Cash kill put the Greyhounds in front by one, 9-8. Sarah Katz had a sideout kill for American and then Allison Cappelino had two of her match-high 10 to put the Eagles up, 11-9.

Cash pulled the Greyhounds back within a point, 11-10, but the Eagles scored the next five points to pull away.

Erin Swartz had eight kills for the Eagles, and Kristyna Lindovska added seven. Hoakalei Dawson posted 16 digs to lead all players. American had eight digs, let by three each from Lindovska and Carmen Unzue.

Haley Puddy also had seven kills for Loyola, while Lauren Youngblood and Micah Duzey each had seven digs to pace the Greyhounds.

The Greyhounds are back in action Friday night in Annapolis, Maryland, where they will face the U.S. Naval Academy at 7 p.m.
