CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — After setting a new career-best mark en route to a first place finish in the pole vault at the Fred Hardy Invite, Lee Bares has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Bares collects the award after recording a 5.01m leap at the Fred Hardy Invite, taking first place for the second time in three outdoor meets.

On the season, the freshman has earned two first place nods and one second place nods and sits just outside the NCAA top-50. He ranks fourth in the Patriot League and tops Army’s season-best list.

Since the start of the indoor season, the Lakeville, Minn., native has garnered three Patriot League Rookie of the Week certificates and two Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Week honors.

Bares and the Black Knights will take their talents to Annapolis, Md., this weekend as they take on the Midshipmen for the annual Star meet. Action with Navy is slated to get underway on April 4 at 11:30 a.m.
