Oct. 31, 2014BOSTON – Seniors Jordan Barker and Nick Thomson of the No. 25 Boston University men’s soccer team have both earned Capital One Academic All-District First Team honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday afternoon.
The announcement marks the first time in program history that two Terriers have been recognized by CoSIDA in the same season. The two England natives will now try to join recent alums Ben Havey (’11) and Dan Schultz (’09) in attaining Academic All-America honors.
A graduate student majoring in energy and environmental analysis with a 3.65 GPA, Barker has been a key figure in the midfield this season. He’s tallied three goals and four assists to rank tied-for-second on the team with 10 points. Highlights include game winners against UMass, Holy Cross and Lafayette. In the same win over Lafayette, he added two assists after helping on the game winner against defending Patriot League champion Navy.
Thomson is majoring in health science with a 3.87 GPA and has protected the net for BU during the last four years. In his final year with the Terriers, he’s had his best season yet, recording seven shutouts while ranking 17th nationally in save percentage (0.829) and 24th in goals against average (0.725). In the 2-1 win over Navy, he hauled in a career-high nine saves to preserve the victory.
Both men will be recognized on Saturday alongside six other teammates as part of the Senior Day ceremony prior to the 1 p.m. start time against American.
