Belmont beats Western Kentucky 90-85

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Evan Bradds had 16 points and nine rebounds, and Belmont beat Western Kentucky 90-85 on Wednesday night.

Amanze Egekeze scored 15 points, Craig Bradshaw 13, and Austin Luke had nine points and a career-high 11 assists for Belmont (2-1). The Bruins had 21 assists on 29 field goals.

The Hilltoppers led 35-27 after Anton Waters’ jumper, but Nick Smith sank a 3-pointer and two free throws and Belmont outscored Western Kentucky 27-8 to close the first half for a 52-43 lead.

Egekeze scored 7 points amid a 10-0 run for a 63-50 Belmont lead. But the Hilltoppers rallied, tying it at 74 and 76 before Belmont pulled away on an 11-4 run sparked by Bradshaw’s layup.

Chris Harrison-Docks scored 19 with four 3-pointers for Western Kentucky (1-1). Fredrick Edmond had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Aaron Cosby scored 15.
