Brown defeats St. Peter’s 70-58

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) Tavon Blackmon finished with 18 points, including 8 of 8 free throws, to lead Brown to a 70-58 win over St. Peter’s for the first game of the season on Friday night.

Cedric Kaukumensah had 15 points, six rebounds and four assists, shooting 7 for 9 on the night and Rafael Maia tallied 13 points and seven rebounds including going 8 of 10 from the free throw line.

Welton Quadir had 16 points and seven rebounds, five of them offensive, Dominique Marvin had 11 points and eight rebounds and Washington Desi had 11 points including three 3-pointers for St. Peter’s.

After Hester Travis hit a 3-pointer to put St. Peter’s up 20-19 midway through the first half, Brown went on a 25-4 run. Up 10 at halftime, Blackmon added an additional 10 second-half points for the Bears.
