DelMauro lifts Bucknell past Holy Cross 31-24 OT

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) Matt DelMauro scored his third touchdown, bulling across from the 3 in overtime, and the Bucknell defense followed with a goal-line stand to defeat Holy Cross 31-24 on Saturday.

Bucknell (8-2, 4-1 Patriot) was nursing a narrow lead until the Crusaders’ Connor Fitzgerald booted a 32-yard field goal with 4 seconds left to force overtime at 24-24.

It was the third straight week Bucknell wound up in OT.

Peter Pujals passed for 201 yards and ran for 44 with three TDs for Holy Cross (4-7, 2-3). The Crusaders scored on their last two possessions of regulation – Pujals running from the 6 after Holy Cross sacked Trey Lauletta and forced a fumble; Pujals also ran for 5 yards on a fourth-and-2 during the final 16-play drive resulting in Fiztgerald’s field goal.

DelMauro had the answer each time, scoring from the 7 for a 24-21 lead, then the winner in OT.
