Both teams worked hard defensively in the first half, denying any offensive efforts on both ends. There were no shots, on target or otherwise, recorded in the first 45 minutes.
The Terriers put the pressure on in the second half but not before the Greyhounds got a ball past Alyssa Parisi in the 47th minute. In the opening minutes of the second period, Morgan Crable threw in to Charlotte Miller, who turned and sent it into the offensive zone but what was meant to be service from long range ultimately became the game-winning goal when it caught the upper right corner of the goal, just beyond Parisi’s fingertips.
BU finally got going on offense, getting eight shots off including two on net throughout the remainder of the game. Jamie Turchi had two opportunities to score early and late in the second half off two free kicks taken from nearly the same location, just in front of the 18-yard box. Her first shot was saved by the goalie, who let it trickle out but noticed an attacking Jenna Fisher and jumped on the ball to prevent a rebound shot. Turchi’s second shot when just high of the crossbar.
The Terriers had one final effort in the closing minutes in the half when Turchi served a ball into the box that Fisher got a head on but it went just wide of the goal and BU settled for its first conference loss of the season.
BU is back in action on Wednesday against Colgate on Nickerson Field at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ASN.
