Eastern Michigan closes out Toledo, 85-59

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) Mike Talley tossed in 23 points and Eastern Michigan rolled over Toledo in the Mid-American Conference regular-season finale Friday Night.

Eastern Michigan (19-12, 8-10) rolls into the MAC tournament on a two-game win streak to claim the No. 8 seed. Toledo (19-12, 11-7) had eyed a share of the West Division title and one of the conference’s four first-round byes but lost its final two games.

The Eagles took a 31-29 lead at the break and, after trading baskets with Toledo to start the second half, used a 18-3 run to take control, 51-36 on Anali Okoloji’s jumper with 12:01 left.

Talley was 10 of 12 from the free throw line while dishing off five assists to lead Eastern Michigan. Karrington Ward added 18 points, Raven Lee 17 and Tim Bond 15.

J.D. Witherspoon scored 12 points to lead Toledo (19-12, 11-7), with Julius Brown and Jonathan Williams each adding 11.
