Field Hockey. No. 20 BU Rolls to 6-3 Win over Hofstra

ORONO, Maine – Freshman Ally Hammel scored her first two goals of her collegiate career to help the No. 20 Boston University field hockey team roll to a 6-3 victory over Hofstra on Saturday at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex.

The Terriers, who improved to 2-1 on the year, jumped out to a 4-0 lead and were up by a score of 6-1 before the Pride tacked on a pair of late goals. The six goals were the most by BU in a game since Oct. 27, 2012, in a 6-2 triumph over Fairfield that was the 400th win of head coach Sally Starr’s Hall of Fame career.

Freshman Grace Boston and juniors Amanda Cassera, Bea Baumberger Altirriba and Hester van der Laan all scored for the Terriers and van der Laan added two assists for a four-point afternoon.
