Maine is the destination for the No. 20 Boston University field hockey team’s first road trip of the season, as the Terriers will face Hofstra on Saturday (Sept. 5) before facing the host Black Bears on Labor Day (Sept. 7). Saturday’s game against the Pride will start at 3 p.m. while Monday’s tilt will begin at 1 p.m.
BU (1-1) started off the season with a split at home last weekend, topping New Hampshire, 4-3, in the opener before dropping a 2-1 decision to No. 18 Massachusetts.
Hofstra (2-1) opened the year with home wins over Vermont and Colgate before suffering its first loss on Friday at Maine by a score of 3-2. The Black Bears will enter Monday’s contest with a perfect 3-0 record after kicking off the season last weekend with neutral-site wins over La Salle and Holy Cross.
The Terriers are 9-2 all-time against Hofstra, most recently posting a 3-1 home victory during the 2013 season.
Through three games, the Pride has been led offensively by Claudia Marin Samper, who has team highs in points (11) and goals (4). Classmate Stella Schoen and freshman Samantha Schiegel have scored three goals apiece.
