CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Fordham running back Chase Edmonds earned yet another preseason accolade on Monday as the sophomore was named to the watch list for the FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy by College Football Performance Awards (CFPA).

The recognition comes after Edmonds was already placed on the watch list for the STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Year award as well as earning first-team preseason All-America status from the organization.

Edmonds was named the FCS National Freshman Performer of the Year by CFPA last season while claiming the Jerry Rice Award as the FCS Freshman of the Year from the Sports Network and the ECAC Offensive Rookie of the Year honor. He was also selected as a second-team All-American by The Sports Network and third-team from the Associated Press for his outstanding season as a rookie.

Edmonds set school records and placed in the top five in Patriot League single-season history with 1,838 rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns in 2014. He set the Patriot League single-season all-purpose yardage record as his total of 2,473 eclipsed the record of 2,425 set by Colgate’s Kenny Gamble in the inaugural Patriot League season in 1986.

Edmonds led the Patriot League and ranked in the top 10 nationally in both rushing yards (131.3) and all-purpose yards (176.6) per game for the season. His overall rushing and all-purpose yardage totals ranked in the top five in FCS in each category, and Edmonds tied for second in the nation with the 23 rushing touchdowns.

The CFPA list includes 32 returning players. The 2015 FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal trophy with 8-inch crystal football on top. All FCS players are eligible for the award, which will be announced January 13, 2016.
