BOSTON, Mass. – On the final day of the IC4A Championship, four Navy men’s track and field athletes tallied All-East performances on Sunday at Boston University’s Track and Tennis Center.
“We had a very successful day overall to wrap up the IC4A Championship,” Navy head coach Stephen Cooksey said. “Despite no podium finishes, our guys remained healthy and we will look to prepare for the outdoor season.”
Sophomore sprinter Devin Enslen (Alamogordo, N.M.) recorded Navy’s top finish on Sunday, placing fourth in the 200-meter dash. Enlsen finished with his fastest indoor mark of his career, clocking in at 21.47.
Senior Austin Batiste (Long Beach, Calif.) and freshman Kordell Williams (Upper Marlboro, Md.) both finished sixth in their respective events. Batiste, who recorded his second-straight All-East indoor performance, placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.58. Williams picked up his first All-East award, finishing sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.08, which was 0.01 seconds off his career-best time.
In the shot put, Griffie Loy (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) picked up his second consecutive All-East performance with a six-place throw of 55ft-6.25in (16.92m). Teammate Sean Brennan (Westfield, N.J.) finished 13th with a throw of 52ft-1.75in (15.89m).
Junior Khaalif Wolfe (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) placed 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 47ft-2.25in (14.38m).
As a team, Navy finished seventh overall with 30 points. Hampton won the team title with 66 points followed by Albany (65), Liberty (49.75), Rutgers (47) and William and Mary (47) to round out the top five.
Navy will begin its outdoor season on Saturday when it competes at the UCSD Collegiate Challenge in San Diego, Calif. The meet begins at 3 p.m. (EST).
