Leach’s picks help Dayton top Robert Morris 27-24

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) Danny Leach returned an interception 93 yards for a touchdown and had a second at midfield late in the game to help Dayton defeat Robert Morris for the 13th straight time, 27-24 in the season opener for both teams on Saturday.

Leach’s big return tied the game at 10 early in the third quarter. His second came after William Will’s 37-yard field goal with 2:32 play provided the winning margin for the Flyers.

Dayton couldn’t run out the clock after Leach’s second pick. The Colonials got in field goal range but couldn’t spike the ball in time on the final play to attempt a field goal.

Robert Morris led 10-0 at half but the Flyers scored 17 points in the third quarter, before the Colonials opened the fourth with 14 quick points, including Cole Blake’s 26-yard punt return for a 24-17 lead.
