M. Soccer. Mids Head to Holy Cross For Saturday Night Men’s Soccer Showdown

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy men’s soccer team (5-4-1, 2-0-0 PL) will play at Holy Cross (3-3-4, 1-0-2 PL) on Saturday evening at 7:00 PM. Live statistics will be available.

Navy’s last outing was a 3-1 win over Lehigh at home on Wednesday. In his return from a seven-game injury absence, senior forward Jamie Dubyoski scored the game-winning goal and freshman Matt McCraith and sophomore Daniel Zaremba also scored.

Dubyoski, the 2015 Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, scored his 21st career goal on Wednesday evening and his 10th game-winner.

After its win over Lehigh, Navy improved to 10-0-0 in its last 10 Patriot League Regular Season home matches. Overall, Navy is 17-1-2 in Patriot League matches since the 2013 season.

Boston U. and Lafayette are tied for first place in the Patriot League standings with seven points and Navy is one point back with six points. Navy has played one less conference game than the Terriers and the Leopards due to the Army-Navy Cup being postponed.

Senior Derek Vogel leads Navy with eight points on two goals and four assists. Sophomore Aubrey Jones has a team-high three goals and 10 different Mids have scored a goal this season.

Senior goalkeeper Jackson Morgan is 5-4-1 with a 1.05 goals-against average and a .766 save percentage. Morgan has shutout four opponents this season.

Holy Cross enters Saturday’s game at 3-3-4 overall and 1-0-2 in the Patriot League.

The Crusaders played Army West Point to a 1-1 double-overtime draw on Wednesday in Worcester. Army West Point scored in the 13th minute and Holy Cross’ Joey DeVivo got the equalizer in the 74th minute.

Goalkeeper Kevin Wright made three saves in the game for the Crusaders.

Prior to the Army West Point game, Holy Cross tied Bucknell, 1-1, and defeated Lehigh, 1-0.

DeVivo leads the Crusaders with nine points this season on four goals and one assist. Yuji Callahan is second on the team with eight points on two goals and four assists.

Wright is 3-3-4 in goal with an 0.64 goals-against average and a .821 save percentage. He has two shutouts.

Navy is 3-0-0 in the last three meetings with Holy Cross, but the Crusaders lead the overall series, 14-11-2. Navy defeated Holy Cross, 2-1, last season in Annapolis. Dubyoski and Geoff Fries tallied the goals for the Mids.

Navy defeated Holy Cross, 2-0, in the 2013 Patriot League Championship.

Navy will next play at Bucknell on Saturday, Oct. 17.
