Monmouth rolls into MAAC title game with 76-63 victory

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Micah Seaborn scored 17 points and Justin Robinson added 15 points and nine rebounds and top-seeded Monmouth beat fifth-seed Fairfield 76-63 on Sunday and advanced to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament championship game.

On Monday, the Hawks (27-6) will play No. 2 seed Iona.

Monmouth trailed by nine before going on a 21-6 run to end the first half, and added a 22-4 run to open the second half in taking a 23-point lead with 12:12 left. The lead remained in double figures. The Hawks scored 21 points off turnovers in beating Fairfield for the third time this season.

Matija Milin scored 16 points and had nine rebounds for the Stags (19-13). Senior Marcus Gilbert, with 10 points, jumped two spots to fourth on Fairfield’s career scoring list with 1,650.

Monmouth goes into the title game on a five-game winning streak and victories in 13 of its last 14.
