Mountain Hawks Take Down Volleyball In Friday Night Match

Oct. 31, 2014

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh University trailed late in the first set, but it scored seven of the set’s last 10 points and went on to a 25-23, 25-15, 25-19, on Friday night.

Loyola led for much of the first set, going up 20-18 on a Jane Lukas kill before Mountain Hawks kills by Stephanie Slater and Jade Van Streepen tied the score.

A Greyhounds attack error and another Van Streepen kill made it 23-21 Lehigh, but a Mountain Hawks service error got Loyola back within a point, 23-22. Van Streepen put away another to give Lehigh set point, and despite another service error for a Loyola sideout, Taylor Carroll earned a first-set win for Lehigh with a kill.

The Mountain Hawks led throughout the entire second set and most of the third to earn the Patriot League victory.

Lukas and Molly Cichosz tied for match-high honors with 12 kills each. Micah Duzey led all players with 13 digs, and Kelly McShea had 30 assists for the Greyhounds.

Loyola continues their weekend trip to Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley on Saturday afternoon with a 2 o’clock match at Lafayette College.
