Navy Hosts Iona and Delaware State in Three-Game Set
With Mother Nature continuing to wreak havoc on the East Coast and collegiate baseball schedules up and down the eastern seaboard, the Navy baseball team has pieced together a three-game series that will begin Sunday and conclude on Monday. The Mids will welcome the Iona Gaels for a doubleheader on Sunday before hosting the Hornets of Delaware State in a single contest on Monday. Sunday’s action starts at 12 p.m., while Monday’s game is a 3 p.m. first pitch.
Navy has split its last four games with a 1-2 mark at the Freedom Classic versus Air Force and a midweek win over Delaware State on Wednesday.

Batting in the third spot of the order, Speciale reached base safely in all five of his plate appearances, as he was also hit by pitch and stole his eighth base of the season.
After the Mids took one-run leads in the first and third innings, Iona responded in both situations to tie the game. With the matchup knotted at 2-2 in fourth, Navy broke open the game with a four-run fifth inning.
Navy starter Johnny Schoberl improved to 2-1 on the year with five innings of five-hit, two-run baseball with one walk and four strikeouts. Reliever Tyler Mapes was dominant in earning his second save of the season, as he fired four shutout innings with only two hits and no walks allowed, to go along with two strikeouts.

Mids & Hornets, Last Meeting (March 4, 2015)
The Navy baseball team improved its overall record to 7-4 on Wednesday, March 4 with a non-conference win over Delaware State (0-8) at Max Bishop Stadium by a score of 10-3. After seeing their early 3-0 lead fade away, the Mids fought back and scored the final seven runs of the contest to knock off the visiting Hornets. Contributions on both sides of the ball aided Navy in its victory as all nine starting batters reached base at least once during the game and all four pitchers that saw action struck out at least one Delaware State batter.
Offensively, the trio of Sean Trent, Robert Currie and Travis Blue led the Mids as each recorded multiple hits, as well as multiple RBIs. Trent went 3-5 with three RBIs, while Currie was 2-4 with three RBIs. Hitting from the nine-hole on Wednesday, Blue went 2-3 with two RBIs.
On the mound, Kyle Condry started for Navy and went 3.1 innings before giving way to the relief trio of Jett Meenach, Andrew Bartek and Ben Lowe. Out of the bullpen, the Mids hurled 5.2 innings of four-hit, one-run ball.
