North Carolina A&T beats Greensboro 91-61

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) Bruce Beckford scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead North Carolina A&T over Division-III Greensboro College 91-61 in the season opener for both teams on Friday night.

James Whitaker scored five points to end the first half to give North Carolina A&T a 34-25 halftime lead. Whitaker scored seven unanswered points to open the second half, stretching the lead to 39-25 and the Aggies led by double digits the rest of the way.

Beckford made 8 of 18 shots and was 5 of 6 from the line. Whitaker and Trey Brown each finished with 16 points while the Aggies held a 53-38 rebound advantage over the Pride.

Simeon Howard scored 15 points and Devan Gregory added 14 points to lead Greensboro. The Pride shot just 29.7 percent from the floor.
