CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Four Patriot League men’s basketball teams posted wins over the weekend, with the three victories against Division I opponents all coming in thrilling fashion.
Lehigh (5-5) earned the marquee win of the weekend as the Mountain Hawks posted an 84-81 triumph in triple overtime at Arizona State. Kahron Ross had a school record 14 assists as well as 15 points and Lehigh held off the Sun Devils in the third overtime for the second win in a week for a Patriot League school against a Pac-12 opponent.
American (7-4) posted a 46-45 win over Mount St. Mary’s as Pee Wee Gardner scored the winning bucket with 0.5 seconds remaining, while Mo Williams scored the final seven points to lift Army (8-2) to a 72-69 overtime win against Maine. Bucknell (5-6) defeated Case Western 88-65 on Friday as all three Patriot League hosts won over the weekend.
Four teams fell on the road, with Lafayette (7-3) having its four-game win streak snapped in a 96-69 loss at No. 10 Kansas and Boston University (3-7) falling 78-62 at Dayton on Saturday while Loyola (3-7) lost 67-52 at Stony Brook and Holy Cross (5-4) dropped a 67-48 final at Canisius on Sunday.

Patriot League Men’s Basketball Notes – Dec. 19-21
*Kahron Ross had 15 points and a school-record 14 assists while Tim Kempton had 16 points and 11 rebounds in Lehigh’s triple OT win at Arizona State.
*The Mountain Hawks led by 14 points in the second half, but ASU battled back and tied the score at 64-64 with 53 seconds left. Both teams missed shots in the final 30 seconds as the game went to overtime.
*Arizona State scored the first four points of the first overtime, but Lehigh had the last four and tied the score at 68-68 on a layup by Austin Price with 1:04 left. Again, both teams missed chances to go ahead in the last minute.
*Lehigh played from behind again in the second overtime, but evened the score at 75-75 on a jumper by Ross with nine seconds to play.
*The Mountain Hawks took an 81-78 lead on baskets by Ross and Justin Goldsborough in the third overtime, and held on for the win as ASU missed four chances to tie in the final 30 seconds.
*Lehigh beat its second major conference opponent of the year after also winning at DePaul last month.
*It was the second straight win against a Pac-12 team as Army beat USC in overtime last Saturday.
*Pee Wee Gardner hit a layup with 0.5 seconds left to send American to a 46-45 win over Mount St. Mary’s.
*Gardner led the Eagles with 17 points, while Jesse Reed added 10.
*Mo Williams scored Army’s last seven points, including a go-ahead three-pointer with 57 seconds left in overtime, to lift the Black Knights to a 72-69 win over Maine.
*Williams went 4-for-4 at the free throw line in the final 20 seconds, each time hitting a pair to build Army’s lead to three points.
*Tanner Plomb had 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Black Knights, and hit the game-tying shot with 1:07 left in regulation.
*Chris Hass scored 19 points while John Azzinaro added 15 in Bucknell’s win over Case Western, with the duo combining for 10 of the Bison’s 13 three-pointers.
*Lafayette was down by just seven with 11:40 left at Kansas before the Jayhawks pulled away for the 27-point win.
*Seth Hinrichs led four Leopards in double figures with 15 points, and added team highs of seven rebounds and five assists.
*Cedric Hankerson had 25 points while Nathan Dieudonne had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds for Boston University, but Dayton pulled away with a 14-3 stretch to close the game.
*Cam Gregory led Loyola with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Cullen Hamilton had 10 points to lead Holy Cross.
