Prairie View coach Rimm resigns with Panthers 1-18

Rimm’s resignation was announced by the school Wednesday. Assistant coach Byron Smith has been named the interim coach for the remainder of this season, starting with Saturday’s game at Alabama A&M.

Rimm was a Prairie View assistant for the 2005-06 season before taking over as head coach. He had a 115-192 record with only two winning seasons, going 18-16 in 2008-09 and 16-14 the following season.

Since a Southwestern Athletic Conference victory over Southern on Jan. 4, the Panthers have lost their last five games. The last four losses have been by a combined 10 points, none of them by more than three points.
