QB Jones back at Tennessee after brief stay at Colorado

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Quarterback Sheriron Jones has returned to Tennessee after a brief transfer to Colorado.

Tennessee athletic department spokesman Ryan Robinson said Wednesday that Jones has re-enrolled at the school.

Colorado announced Friday it had released Jones from his scholarship so that he could return to Tennessee. Robinson said at the time he couldn’t confirm anything until Tennessee received official paperwork granting Jones’ release from Colorado.

Jones had transferred to Colorado earlier this month. Colorado officials said last week the NCAA allows a student-athlete to return to the school he transferred from if he decides to do so within a 14-day window.

Jones redshirted in 2015 and has four seasons of eligibility remaining. Jones was rated as a consensus four-star recruit when he signed with Tennessee.
