Saint Louis beats SIU Edwardsville 67-61

ST. LOUIS (AP) Austin McBroom scored 13 points and Achraf Yacoubou added 10 to lead Saint Louis to a 67-61 victory over SIU Edwardsville on Saturday night.

Saint Louis led 37-34 at the break, and opened the second with a 10-4 run to stretch its lead to 47-38. SIU Edwardsville pulled within one point three times in the final 5:21, the last when Maurice Wiltz hit a 3-pointer with 1:45 remaining to make it 60-59.

Davell Roby split a pair of free throws and Yacoubou scored to stretch the Billikens’ lead to 63-59 with 34 seconds to play. Donivine Stewart’s two free throws pulled the Cougars within 63-61, but McBroom and John Manning each made a pair of free throws to seal it for Saint Louis (6-4).

Kris Davis had 18 points and Stewart scored 12 points and dished out seven assists for SIU Edwardsville (1-6).
