Southern defeats Arkansas-Pine Bluff 70-60

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) Frank Snow finished with 17 points and five blocks, Joell Hopkins added 12 points and Southern pushed past Arkansas-Pine Bluff for a 70-60 victory on Saturday night.

Adrian Rodgers chipped in 11 points and Jared Sam had 10 for the Jaguars (7-12, 4-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who shot 50 percent from the field. Snow was 7 of 9 from the floor and Hopkins went 5 of 6.

Marcel Mosley paced the Golden Lions (3-15, 0-4) with 26 points. Tevin Hammond and Ghiavonni Robinson contributed 11 points apiece for Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which has dropped six straight.

Keith Davis scored all seven of his points as Southern closed the first half on an 18-7 run to lead 42-30 at halftime. Arkansas-Pine Bluff pulled within five late in the second half, but a layup from Rodgers and six straight free throws from Sam made it 65-52 with 4 minutes left.
