Spruill paces NC-Wilmington past Hofstra 79-74

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) Addison Spruill finished with 23 points and six boards to lead UNC Wilmington to a 79-74 win over Hofstra on Saturday.

Freddie Jackson had 21 points, Jordan Talley added 17 and C.J. Gettys chipped in 10 for the Seahawks (9-8, 4-2 Colonial). Talley scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half.

Ameen Tanksley had 19 points, including four 3-pointers and eight rebounds, Moussa Kone added 14 points, seven rebounds and two blocks and Juan’ya Green chipped in 14, nine coming from the foul line for Hofstra (13-6, 4-2). Malik Nichols and Dion Nesmith each chipped in 11 for the Pride.

Down two with 1:27 left, Talley hit a 3 to regain the lead, then Spruill made a layup at the 1 minute mark to put the Seahawks up by four. Green scored four points in the final minute but four free throws from Spruill sealed the game.
