Stephen F. Austin rolls by Abilene Christian 82-64

ABILENE, Texas (AP) Thomas Walkup poured in a career-high 30 points on 14-of-17 shooting, pacing Stephen F. Austin to an 82-64 victory over Abilene Christian on Saturday.

The Lumberjacks (14-3, 4-0 Southland) shot 59.3 percent from the field and outscored Abilene Christian 46-24 in the paint. Clide Geffrard added 14 points and Jacob Parker chipped in 12 for SF Austin, which had 20 second-chance points. Walkup had six rebounds with six assists and was a combined 25 of 31 from the floor with Geffrard and Parker.

Abilene Christian (9-8, 3-1) led by seven early in the second half, but couldn’t keep pace, making just 3 of its last 17 shots and finishing 38.9 percent overall. Austin Cooke was the Wildcats’ lone scorer in double figures with 10 points.

Walkup hit a jumper to give SF Austin the lead for good, igniting a 36-14 run that made it a 21-point game with 5:35 remaining.
