WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army women’s swimming and diving team will host its first home meet of the season Friday, Nov. 7 when the Black Knights take the blocks with Iona at Crandall Pool.
“Our team is always very excited to race at home,” said head coach Mickey Wender. “The cadets have traditionally been tremendous at Crandall Pool over the years and I would expect nothing less than staying true to form this weekend.
“It has been a long fall, but the team is excited for another opportunity to race and especially to race at home. This will be the first time we swim against Iona. We are just looking to race hard, learn, grow, develop as a team and to continue to improve.”
Iona is 2-2 with wins over St. Francis Brooklyn and Sacred Heart. Its losses come from Wagner and Bryant. This is the first time the Black Knights and Gaels will face each other in program history.
Last weekend the Black Knights competed in the first tri-meet of the season and split with Buffalo and Michigan State. Army defeated MSU, marking its first victory over a Big Ten opponent. The decision came down to the last event, the 400 free relay, where the Black Knights had to finish 1st and 3rd to beat MSU, but Army finished 1-and-2 to clinch the victory.
Friday’s meet is set to start at 7 p.m.
