Miami – The Boston University men’s and women’s track & field teams will open their outdoor season on Friday and Saturday, competing at the Hurricane Invitational hosted by the University of Miami.

The competition will begin on Friday at 2 p.m. with the javelin and weight throws, followed by the pole vault at 5:30 p.m. Distance running competitions will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the women’s 3,000 meter run.

Saturday will feature a full day of events starting with the women’s 4x400m relay at 1 p.m. and conclude with the men’s 4x400m relay at 4:50 p.m.

The Terriers will send out a full squad over the weekend. On the women’s side, the Terriers will be led by senior Christy Wood, who will be competing in the 100m dash, the 200m dash and the 4x100m relay. Wood won both the 100m and 200m dash at last month’s Patriot League Championships, helping her team win the PL indoor title.

Also competing this weekend will be junior Toria Levy who will run the 100m hurdles and the 4x100m relay. Levy won both 60m hurdles and the 500m dash at the Patriot League Indoor Championships in February and was named PL Female Track Athlete of the Year.

On the men’s side, the Terriers will look to Cameron Williams to continue his remarkable junior year as he competes in the 100m dash on Saturday. Williams is coming off an indoor season in which he shattered his own indoor record in the 200m dash (20:58) and was named Patriot League Track Athlete of the Year. Last week, Williams concluded his indoor season by competing at the NCAA National Championships in Birmingham Alabama and was named a Second-Team All-American by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

After this weekend’s competition, the Terriers will next compete at the Texas Relays in Austin Texas March 30- April 1.
