UNC Asheville beats Mars Hill 84-51

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) Dwayne Sutton scored 16 points to help UNC Asheville roll to an 84-51 victory over Division III Mars Hill on Wednesday night.

Sutton was 7 of 10 from the field. John Cannon and Sam Hughes added 11 points for UNC Asheville (1-2). Patrick Monroe scored 16 points with four 3-pointers to lead Mars Hill. Brandon McCarter added 9 points.

Monroe made a jumper to give Mars Hill a 5-4 lead before the Bulldogs used a 16-0 run to make it 20-5 midway through the first half. David Robertson made a half-court shot at the buzzer to give the Bulldogs a 46-17 halftime lead. UNC Asheville led 71-28 midway through the second half.

It was the first meeting between the schools since 2011, a 126-75 victory for the Bulldogs.
