W. Volleyball. Volleyball Closes Weekend Road Trip With Loss At Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. – Jane Lukas led all players with 16 kills Saturday afternoon, but Lafayette College swept the Loyola University Maryland volleyball team in Patriot League action, 25-23, 25-18, 25-23.

After going down by as many as five in the early going of the first set, the Greyhounds rallied to tie the score at 21-21 on a Micah Duzey service ace. The Leopards, however, scored three unanswered points on a Loyola service error and two Samantha Volk aces, to take control of the opening frame.

Loyola later led throughout much of the third set, taking a 20-18 advantage on a Lukas kill. Lafayette drew even two points later on another Volk ace.

The teams traded sideouts before Lukas put Loyola up 22-21 with a kill. Lafayette strung together three-straight points after that and closed the match two points later.

In addition to Lukas’ 16 kills, Molly Cichosz had nine, and Mindy Maloney added five for the Greyhounds. Lukas also had two aces, and Maloney posted three blocks.

Duzey led Loyola with nine digs, and Anna Eckstein added eight. Both Duzey and Eckstein recorded a pair of aces.
