Utah vs. Gonzaga picks for the NCAA Tournament’s second round game.

The Utah Utes have made their way to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and can you guess who is waiting for them? The Gonzaga Bulldogs. The last time these two programs met, it was New Year’s Eve in 2008. The Utes walked into 2009 with a 66-65 win over the Zags.

Utah is a part of the madness in March for the second straight year after using a 26-8 regular-season record to lock up a No. 3 seed in the tourney. The Utes sent No. 14 Fresno State packing in the first round, 80-69.

On paper, a No. 11 seed beating a No. 6 seed is technically an upset, but Gonzaga was 26-7 under head coach Mark Few this season, so the talent is there. Regardless, the Zags took down Seton Hall, 68-52, to advance to the second round. The Bulldogs haven’t missed the tourney since the 1997-98 season.

Here’s a look at the Campus Insiders Utah vs. Gonzaga picks.

Shae Peppler

Arizona made me stop believing in the Pac-12 — for a minute. But, I thought Seton Hall would take care of the Zags, so I’ll continue to advance the Utes because Jakob Poeltl is a force down low.

Ken Bikoff

Gonzaga’s one-two punch of Domantas Sabonis and Kyle Wiltjer are better than Utah’s dynamic duo of Jakob Poeltl and Kyle Kuzma. The Zags’ offensive efficiency and passing will push the Bulldogs to the win.

Jordan Cornette

Utah is too efficient offensively. We always get a good show from the Utes. Jakob Poeltl brings too much size and skill, and he’ll help lead the way for the win.
