South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp took a joking shot at Auburn, his former employer.
Will Muschamp’s one-year return to Auburn didn’t go as planned, and he is now the new head coach at South Carolina. It seems that Muschamp still hasn’t shaken his down year back on The Plains.
Speaking at a “Spurs Up Tour” last week in Charleston, he took a playful jab at his old residence.
“I think a huge strength of ours is the city of Columbia,” Muschamp said per AL.com. “The diversity, the culture that we have, there actually is a town where our college is. You ever been to Auburn? There’s so much to sell in (Columbia). Just kidding about Auburn.”
It is nice to see that Muschamp, who’s more known for his sideline antics and meltdowns, has a sense of humor. It will help him as he tries to rebuild the Gamecocks back into an SEC East contender.
While South Carolina doesn’t face the Tigers this season, Muschamp might be seen around campus at times. His nephew, Robert, is a redshirt freshman on the Auburn football team.
The former defensive coordinator might also want to check his facts: Forbes lists the Auburn-Opelika area higher than Columbia in every quality of life ranking.
