5. Texas(1913 to 1917): 44 Games
In the early days of college basketball, the Texas Longhorns dominated the sport for over four years. Coach Theo Bellmont and Roy Henderson’s team could not be beaten.
During this stretch, the Longhorns won 44 straight basketball games and won three straight Southwest Conference Championships. This includes the inaugural conference championship and their streak continued until Rice defeated them 24-18 in 1917.
The 44 game win streak by Texas is still one of the longest winning streaks in men’s college basketball history.
4. UCLA(1966 to 1968): 47 Games
During the 1960s and 1970s, John Wooden’s UCLA Bruins made their mark as the greatest college basketball team ever. Their first of two of the longest winning streaks in men’s college basketball history went from 1966 to 1968.
During this time, UCLA featured the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar leading their team. The Bruins won the national title in 1967 and extended their streak until the next championship game.
Their streak was snapped in that game in a 71-69 loss to Houston. This epic game was nicknamed “the game of the century.”
3. UNLV(1990 to 1991): 45 Games
The legendary Jerry Tarkanian put together one of the greatest teams ever in 1990. His Runnin’ Rebels squad were the talk of the college basketball world during this incredible stretch.
After winning the national title in 1990, UNLV looked even better and extended their streak to the next season. They were able to extend their winning streak to 45 games before facing Duke in the semifinals.
Duke shocked the world by beating UNLV and going on to win the national title. This 45 game streak puts the UNLV Rebels #3 on the longest winning streak in men’s college basketball history list.
2. San Francisco(1955 to 1957): 60 Games
During the age of segregation, no top school would draft the future icon Bill Russell. It was their loss as he helped turn San Francisco into a powerhouse overnight.
Under coach Phil Woolpert, the Dons won 60 straight games from 1955 to 1957. Russell and his teammate K.C. Jones were unstoppable during this time and blew through the competition to win two national titles.
Their streak ended the year after their second title after Russell and Jones went to the pros. Nobody expected San Francisco to have one of the longest winning streaks in men’s college basketball history.
1. UCLA(1971 to 1974): 88 Games
Of course, at the top of the longest winning streaks in men’s college basketball history belongs to UCLA. John Wooden assembled the greatest teams in college basketball history, which eclipsed his previous streak.
The UCLa Bruins won 88 straight games from 1971 to 1974. This incredible streak included three straight national titles and featured the legendary Bill Walton.
No other men’s team has ever come close to breaking this win streak.
