5. Oklahoma Sooners: 58 Bowl Game Appearances(31-26-1) 

The Oklahoma Sooners are currently #5 on the list of most bowl game appearances in college football history. They’ve currently played in 58 bowl games and are 31-26-2 overall with seven national title victories.

One of their greatest bowl game victories came in 1976, playing in the Orange Bowl for the national title. Billy Sims ran for 138 yards against Michigan in a 14-6 victory.

They also dominated Washington State in 2002 34-14 to win their first ever Rose Bowl championship.

4. Ohio State Buckeyes: 59 Bowl Game Appearances(29-30) 

The defending champion Ohio State Buckeyes are currently 4th on the most bowl game appearances list. They moved into the #4 spot with 59 bowl game appearances after dominating Oregon in the Rose Bowls.

The Buckeyes are known for excellence and one of their greatest victories came in the 2002 Fiesta Bowl. OSU faced an all-time Miami Hurricanes team chasing greatness, but the Buckeyes had other plans.

Out of all of the bowl games that Texas has played in, there was none greater than the 2005 BCS Championship. Led by Vince Young, the Longhorns faced an all-time great team in the USC Trojans looking to become a dynasty.

2. Georgia Bulldogs: 62 Bowl Game Appearances(38-21-3) 

The Georgia Bulldogs are currently have 62 bowl game appearances, placing them #2 on the list. Georgia has one of the best win percentages in bowl games with a 38-21-3(.637) record.

Right now, the Bulldogs are currently in the middle of one of their most successful eras of play. In the 2023 Orange Bowl, they crushed Florida State 63-3 and set a school record for points in a bowl game.

This was five years removed from their epic double overtime win against Oklahoma in the 2018 Rose Bowl.

Alabama dominated the most bowl game appearances in college football history with a whopping 78 appearances. They also have the most bowl game wins of any team with 46 victories.
