Texas A&M vs. Florida: CFB Game of the Week Preview
Week three may just be the most important game of the year for Texas A&M and Florida. Both the Aggies and Gators are 1-1 to start the year, and their seasons are on the line.
Here’s a breakdown of this crucial SEC game as Texas A&M and Florida try to salvage their seasons this week. Following are full breakdowns below, and then use this website to place your next bet.
Texas Aggies Week 3 Outlook
In the opening game of the CFB season, the A&M Aggies didn’t show much against #7-ranked Notre Dame. Their offense wasn’t clicking all game and the defense couldn’t contain the Fighting Irish’s offense.
The Aggies’ second game was a bounce-back game against McNeese, in which the offense started showing some life. QB Connor Weigman seemed to calm down, and the O-line started clicking and working together.
The Texas A&M Aggies are projected to get to a bowl game right now. However, if they don’t get out of Florida with a win, that probably isn’t going to happen for them this year.
Florida Gators Week 3 Outlook
The Gators of Florida University also didn’t get off to a great start this season. In their opener at home, the #17 ranked Miami Hurricanes came into Gainesville, Florida, and did what they wanted.
Miami jumped on Florida early and never took their foot off the pedal. Then, just like the Aggies, the Gators had a bounce-back win by blowing out Samford 45-7.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Gators have some playmakers like quarterback DJ Lagway. However, the defense hasn’t made big plays since last year and is still struggling.
Keys to Victory For Texas A&M
On paper, the Aggies are the better team. They have a better defense and more weapons on the offensive side of the ball.
As we saw in Florida’s opening home game, they broke quickly as the Hurricanes jumped on them early. The Aggies are going to have to follow this same game and break the Gators’ morale from the jump.
However, in order to do that, the Aggie O-line is going to have to start clicking and fix their mistakes. The aggressive D-line will also have to get after Lagway early and break his confidence.
Keys to Victory For Florida
Despite some of the major flaws on this Florida Gators team, they do have some athletic playmakers. DJ Lagway will have to play loose and fast to win this game.
Keep the pace of the game high, and not give the Aggie defense any momentum. Then, on the defensive side of the ball, the Gators will need to find a way to make some stops.
If they break Connor Weigman’s confidence early, they can take this game.
Game Prediction
Going into the season’s first conference game for these teams, the Aggies have a slight average everywhere. The Aggie D-line can get after the Gators’ offense and make some game-changing plays.
However, even if the Gators are having a down year, it’s never easy to win in the swamp. In a close game, the Aggies will likely come away with a win at -3.
