Three-star running back Daniel Young committed to the Texas Longhorns on Friday evening. Young is the No. 12 running back in the state of Texas.
Have yourself a day, Tom Herman. On Friday (aka The Day Before The Day Before Christmas, or Christmas Eve Eve), Herman and the Texas Longhorns flexed their muscles on the recruiting trail.
First there was outside linebacker Marqez Bimage decommitting from the University of Houston – Bimage is expected to join Herman and former Cougar defensive coordinator Todd Orlando in Austin. Then there was Cade Brewer, the 3-star tight end out of Austin who flipped his commitment from SMU to Texas. Not but an hour or so after Brewer flipped, 3-star running back Daniel Young committed to the Longhorns.
In a message posted on social media, Young explained his decision.
“First off I have to thank god and my family for everything and with the support of my family and friends I would like to announce I am committing to the University of Texas #HookEm [sic]”
Hailing from Houston, Texas, Young is the No. 12 running back in The Lone Star State. His commitment is the second running back pledge this week for Texas, as 4-star back Toneil Carter flipped from Georgia on Monday, December 19. Texas has also extended a pledge to 4-star running back Eno Benjamin, who would round out a strong class of tailbacks looking to fill the void left by the departing D’Onta Foreman.
