Air Force vs. Army prediction and game preview. Projecting who wins Saturday afternoon’s matchup between the Falcons and Black Knights.

When: Saturday, Nov. 5 – 12:00 p.m. ET
Where: Michie Stadium, West Point, New York
TV Broadcast: CBSSN

Air Force (5-3) finally broke the three-game losing streak it was on when it took down Fresno State last week, 31-21. In the three weeks prior to that victory, the Falcons fell on the road at Wyoming and at home versus New Mexico and Hawaii.

It’s been a similar situation for Army (5-3). The Black Knights started off 3-2 and have won two of their last three games. Despite a loss to North Texas two weeks ago, Army picked up those two wins at home against Lafayette and this past weekend on the road at Wake Forest, 21-13.

The Falcons are in full control of the all-time series, 35-14-1. Air Force has won the last three contests, including last year’s meeting, 20-3. Army hasn’t won since 2012 at West Point.

What To Know About Air Force

As usual, the Falcons relied heavily on the running game last time out. Arion Worthman rushed for two touchdowns and 102 yards on 20 carries against Fresno State. Jacobi Owens helped out with 71 rushing yards on 17 rushes. Shayne Davern and Nate Romine combined for 96 yards on 24 carries.

Romine didn’t have a tall task when it came to the passing game. He completed 5-of-9 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. That single scoring throw was caught by Ronald Cleveland for 33 yards. Air Force’s leading receiver was Jalen Robinette, who caught three balls for 54 yards.

What to Know About Army

The Black Knights didn’t ask for any more from Ahmad Bradshaw than Air Force asked for from Romine. Bradshaw completed 6-of-8 passes for 145 yards, a touchdown and an interception against Wake Forest. His only touchdown was reeled in by Edgar Poe, who caught four balls for 122 yards.

Bradshaw also produced in the running game. He took off 27 times and finished with 65 rushing yards and a touchdown. Darnell Woolfolk added 42 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Both Kell Walker and Andy Davidson combined for 92 rushing yards on 15 attempts.

Advantages

Offense: Air Force – The combination of Owens, Davern and Romine is too potent of a running attack.

Defense: Army – The Black Knights are No. 9 in scoring defense, allowing 16.5 points per game.

Special Teams: Air Force – Luke Strebel has hit on 14-of-16 field goals for the Falcons this season.

Coaching: Air Force – Troy Calhoun has coached against some tough competition in the Mountain West. He gets the edge.

Matchup To Watch

Air Force running game vs. Army running game

Again, neither team is capable of doing a lot of damage through the air. They embrace the ground game, and they’ll both pound the rock. This matchup will come down to whichever team runs the ball more efficiently than the other. If Romine and out do Bradshaw, then the Falcons will come out on top — and vice versa.

Betting Odds

Spread: Army -1.5
Over/Under: 48

Air Force vs. Army Prediction

Both teams are going to run, and run, and run some more. Owens will have a big day, but he won’t find his way into the end zone this time around. No, that will be taken care of by Davern and Romine, who will combine to score all of the Falcons’ points. Army will get a bigger game from Bradshaw than Air Force will get from Romine, and the Black Knights will also rely on Woolfolk to punch his way across the goal line for a couple of touchdowns.

Air Force vs. Army Score Prediction: Army 24, Air Force 21
