Four-star cornerback Al Blades Jr. committed to the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday. The Hurricanes continue to bolster their already No. 2 ranked 2018 recruiting class with the legacy recruit.

The University of Miami (FL) added another 4-star recruit to their list of commits on Sunday. Alphonso “Al” Blades Jr., a cornerback from Fort Lauderdale, took to Twitter on Father’s Day to announce his commitment to the Hurricanes, a touching tribute to his late father who played for Miami during its renaissance under Butch Davis.

Blades Jr. is listed at 6-feet tall, 170-pounds, and is’s ninth ranked corner in the state of Florida. He is yet another 4-star talent joining Mark Richt’s No. 2 ranked recruiting class for 2018, and is the third 4-star CB to commit to the Canes ’18 recruiting class.

Since February, the only school that Blades Jr. made an unofficial visit to besides Miami was the University of Tennessee. He was on campus this past weekend for a camp held by the Vols on Friday, followed by the team’s “Orange Carpet Day” on Saturday.

He also received a visit from Alabama Defensive Coordinator Jeremy Pruitt back in April.

Now that Richt has a full year under his belt in South Florida, he is beginning to take command of the state’s recruiting game. Of the 18 commits in Miami’s class of 2018, 16 are Florida natives. To compare, Florida State currently has 11 commits for 2018 (eight from Florida) and owns the nation’s No. 7 2018 recruiting class, while the University of Florida has eight commits (six from Florida) and comes in ranked No. 33 in 247Sports’ recruiting rankings.
