Tennessee running back Alvin Kamara reportedly suffered multiple knee injuries in the loss to Alabama and will be out for at least a few weeks.

Tennessee has lost its last two games, including a 49-10 pasting by Alabama this past Saturday, and the news just got worse for the Volunteers. It has been reported that running back Alvin Kamara suffered multiple injuries to his knee in the game against the Crimson Tide.

On Tuesday, Butch Jones did not address Kamara’s injury outside of saying the running back is “banged up,” and that right now “everything is wait and see” on how much time he’ll miss. There has, however, been speculation that Kamara could miss somewhere between two-to-four weeks due to the knee injury.

Kamara is one of the Volunteers’ top playmakers, as he is a threat in both the running and passing game out of the backfield. So far in 2016, the junior from Norcross, GA has rushed for 313 yards and three touchdowns while also catching 22 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns.

He proved to be a valuable replacement for starting running back Jalen Hurd in the Volunteers’ 45-38 double overtime loss to Texas A&M two weeks ago. Kamara ran for 127 yards and two touchdowns, and nearly helped Tennessee pull off another second-half comeback.

As a sophomore last season, Kamara scored 10 touchdowns (7 rushing, 3 receiving) while rushing for 698 yards and catching 34 passes for 291 yards.

The Volunteers have a bye this Saturday before traveling to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks in Columbia on October 29.
