Four-star point guard Anfernee Simons has committed to Louisville. He is the No. 12 point guard and No. 45 recruit in the 2018 class.

Louisville’s 2018 class is off to a blazing start.

Anfernee Simons, the No. 12 point guard and No. 45 prospect in the class of 2018, announced his commitment to the Cardinals on Saturday.

“First of all I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity, my parents for sacrificing so much in order for me to get into this position and the rest of my family for supporting me. I would like to thank all of my coaches, Coach Kenny, Coach Dexter, Coach Ath, and Coach Moran. I would like to thank my trainers Donovan and Limar. I would also like to thank my strength coach Jeff. Also shoutout to Colin of Blue Chip Hoops for videotaping me and getting me more exposure. Special thanks to all the coaches that have been recruiting me throughout this long process, I thank you for seeing the potential in my game and I will always be humbled by you guys, but I have decided that I will be attending THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE, the reason I’m committing early is because I feel like it is a great fit for me, and the coaching staff made me a priority from day one. I’m also committing early because I want to be able to focus on my high school season and developing as a player.”

A prospect out of Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida, Simons is an elite shooter that can score from all areas on the floor. In his time with Team Breakdown, he led the league in scoring with 22.9 points per game and shot 44.3 percent from deep.

He likes to move fast in transition and makes smart decisions with the ball in his hands, even in an up-tempo offense.

In an interview with Scout, Team Breakdown coach Kenny Gillion said, “The big thing is he’s a scorer. He led the under Armour group in scoring. He can score from the perimeter. He’s very athletic and he can score in transition. He’s an underrated ball handler for his high school team. But he also has the ability to handle and distribute the ball. He had tremendous upside. I think he could do what Markelle Fultz did.”

Along with Louisville, Simons also held offers from and was considering Florida, Oklahoma State, South Florida, UCF and Virginia Tech.
