Army vs. Navy prediction and game preview. Projecting who wins the rivalry matchup between the Black Knights and Midshipmen.

Army vs. Navy Game Preview

When: Saturday, December 10 – 3:00 p.m. ET
Where: M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MD
TV Broadcast: CBS

Navy has dominated this rivalry as of late, winning 14 straight over the Black Knights. Army has come close at times, including a 21-17 loss last season, but hasn’t been able to get over that hump since 2001.

From the march in all the way to the two service academies singing their respective alma maters, not many events in college football match the pageantry of the Army-Navy game.

What To Know About Army

Quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw and running back Andy Davidson are the catalysts for the Army triple-option attack, combining for 1,464 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. The Black Knights will keep the ball on the ground, as when they have to pass, the offense becomes a disaster. Bradshaw has attempted just 84 passes this season and has been picked off eight times.

Army’s defense has been solid, allowing a mere 19.1 points per game, good for No. 14 in the nation. The Black Knights will be well prepared for the Navy offense, as the Midshipmen run the same type of offense as what they face each day in practice.

What to Know About Navy

The Midshipmen are down to their third-string quarterback after the injury to Will Worth in the loss to Temple on Saturday. Zach Abey took over under center, and since Navy was down, had to throw the ball. That was a problem, with Abey throwing two interceptions. Navy will keep it on the ground with Abey and backs Chris High and Shawn White. The Army defense will be hard to gain ground on, as it gives up just 124.36 rushing yards per game.

Stopping Bradshaw and Davidson from getting rolling will be the top priority for a Navy defense that is 67th in the nation in rushing defense, allowing 176.25 yards per game.

Advantages

Offense: Tie. If Worth were healthy, Navy would have a big advantage.

Defense: Army. If the Black Knights can force Navy to pass, it will have a great chance of winning.

Special Teams: Navy. The Midshipmen are fundamentally sound in all phases of the game.

Coaching: Navy. Ken Niumatalolo should get a lot of consideration for Coach of the Year.

Intangibles: Army. That losing streak has to stop sometime. Why not this season?

Army vs. Navy Prediction

This game means everything to the players and student bodies, so everything will be left out on the field by both sides. If Navy had Worth under center, this would be an easy call. Injuries happen, however, and Army will look to take advantage of an inexperienced quarterback. In the end, the Black Knights pull out a victory and snap that 14-year losing streak.

Army vs. Navy Score Prediction: Army 24, Navy 23
