Auburn vs. Georgia prediction and game preview. Projecting who wins the rivalry matchup between the Tigers and Bulldogs.

Auburn vs. Georgia Game Preview

When: Saturday, November 12 – 3:30 p.m. ET
Where: Sanford Stadium, Athens, GA
TV Broadcast: CBS

The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry is already upon us, and Auburn is rolling in with six straight wins following a close victory over Vanderbilt. The Tigers rushing attack once again got the job done, but an injury to Kam Pettway might keep the running back out of the game. Quarterback Sean White, who missed the first half against the Commodores, should be healthy and ready to go.

Georgia snapped a two-game losing streak with a 27-24, last-second win against Kentucky in Lexington. Running back Sony Michel rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown while quarterback Jacob Eason threw for 245 yards and a touchdown. The Dawgs defense held Kentucky to 122 yards passing in the win.

What To Know About Auburn

The health of Pettway could be a major factor, as the back left the game against Vanderbilt after suffering what looked like a hamstring injury. Luckily for the Tigers, Kerryon Johnson is healthy and can take on the rushing load if Pettway is unable to play. The rushing game sets up the pass for the Tigers, and White is as accurate as most quarterbacks in college football.

Shutting down the rushing duo of Michel and Nick Chubb will be the top objective for the Tigers defense. Auburn held Vanderbilt to 120 yards on the ground, but did give up 221 passing yards to an offense that usually is not able to move the ball through the air. Putting pressure on Eason with defensive end Carl Lawson and company could rattle the true freshman.

What to Know About Georgia

It has been a season of learning curves for head coach Kirby Smart in his first season in charge in Athens. Eason will be a stud in the league, but for the Dawgs to be successful on offense, they must lean on the legs of Chubb and Michel. Eason has proven he can pull out close wins even in his early career.

The defense will have its hands full with a Tigers offense that is clicking right now in both rushing and passing. If Pettway plays, stopping him from getting the extra yardage will be a key, as the 240 lbs. back can be bruising. A couple of freshman – defensive lineman Julian Rochester and linebacker David Marshall – could play a key role for the Dawgs.

Advantages

Offense: Auburn. Even if Pettway is out, the Tigers are deep at the running back position.

Defense: Auburn. Defensive coordinator Kevin Steele has been a godsend for a unit that struggled mightily last season.

Special Teams: Auburn. Daniel Carlson will win the Lou Groza Award. Write it down.

Coaching: Auburn. Gus Malzahn has turned around this team, and the Tigers faithful feelings about him.

Intangibles: Georgia. Playing at home and having a chance to upset a rival should have the Dawgs up for this one.

Auburn vs. Georgia Prediction

Georgia has two things working for them: being at home and it being a rivalry game. All other signs point toward an Auburn win. Expect Kerryon Johnson to show why he was the starting running back at the beginning of the season for the Tigers, with Kam Pettway getting a few carries to mix it up. The ground game will get going, and Sean White will have another efficient game as Auburn runs its record to 8-2 and starts looking ahead to a major Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa in two weeks.

Auburn vs. Georgia Score Prediction: Auburn 34, Georgia 24
