Bahamas Bowl prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen between Eastern Michigan and Old Dominion.

Jeff Bartl

Eastern Michigan playing in a bowl game is an accomplishment in itself for a program that hasn’t done so since the 1987 season. The Eagles’ seven wins match the total from the previous four years combined, and Chris Creighton has done a fantastic job making them relevant in the MAC again. Players were rewarded with a nice vacation to the Bahamas, but they won’t be so happy when the game is over. Old Dominion is a very solid squad and David Washington won’t be easy to stop. The Monarchs roll.

Robert Judin

I’m going with Old Dominion here. I know David Washington’s knee is banged up, but he’s going to play, and he’ll ultimately lead the Monarchs to a win over Eastern Michigan. Washington will throw for a couple of touchdowns, Ray Lawry will tote the rock for 100-plus yards and find his way across the goal line. And Jeremy Cox will punch home a touchdown as well. Old Dominion wins by 10.

Dave Miller

Outside of a blowout loss to Western Kentucky, the Monarchs have been unscathed since September. Bobby Wilder has done a phenomenal coaching job, as his squad finished its breakthrough nine-win season on a five-game win streak to tie Western Kentucky atop the Conference USA’s East division. However, WKU defeated ODU and was able to get to the conference title game. Quarterback David Washington paces the offense, as he has thrown 28 touchdown passes against just four interceptions and is a major reason why ODU posted its best record since moving to FBS as well as its first bowl bid.

Meanwhile, the Eagles will be competing in their first bowl game since the 1987 season, so it was a great coaching job by Chris Creighton. If EMU wants to steal this game, quarterback Brogan Roback will need to be crisp. The signal-caller is coming off of one of his best performances of the season against Central Michigan, but he has had accuracy and consistency issues.

Ultimately the balanced offensive attack from ODU will be too much to overcome for the Eagles, as a 100-yard day from Ray Lawry will complement the passing game of Washington to deliver ODU the victory.

Brian Stultz

Will these two teams even be up for a bowl game after being in the Bahamas for a few days? Can you imagine putting on pads with a sunburn? Eagles coach Chris Creighton looks like he could shred some waves.

As for the game, I’ll go with Old Dominion, who hasn’t lost since before Halloween.
