Projecting Where 4-Star S Bubba Bolden Will Commit

Four-star safety Bubba Bolden will commit to the school of his choice on January 7 at the Army All-American Bowl. The Campus Insiders staff gave its predictions on where the nation’s No. 2 safety will end up.

Rob Judin

This is all USC, all the way. When Bubba Bolden decommitted from the Trojans a few months ago, he opened the door for a few programs. He was very pro-Gators on Twitter, and that led many Florida fans to believe they had a shot. Sorry, you don’t. Arizona State and Colorado both made big pushes for his commitment. But at the end of the day, the Las Vegas native knows where he wants to be, and that’s in Southern California.

On the surface, it seems like Ohio State is the best bet on the kid from Las Vegas. Three of Bolden’s high school teammates are committed to the Buckeyes, and he backed off his commitment from USC. But the Trojans are on the rise, and I believe Bolden wants to be a part of it. He’ll stay in the warm weather and head to Southern California.

With the Buckeyes forced to deal with early departures from their secondary, continuing to cultivate depth in the defensive backfield is of the utmost importance. The Buckeyes already have three verbal commitments in their 2017 class from Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) prospects—including quarterback Tate Martell—and I believe that Bolden will become the fourth. He was in Columbus for OSU’s 62-3 romp over Nebraska this season, and the former USC commit could see early action in 2017 with the Buckeyes.

Am I gonna fit in?

Yeah, Bolden is going to pick the Trojans. Clay Helton has a lot of momentum following a season that saw the Men of Troy run off nine straight wins, including the epic Rose Bowl victory over Penn State. Ohio State is in play, but the lure of playing in Memorial Coliseum is too much.

Livin’ B1G: Stuck In The Middle

The Big Ten won't be mentioned in any best-conference-in-the-nation conversations. Right now, it looks like a league filled with middle-of-the-road teams headed toward long offseasons.
