Highly-touted Mississippi running back recruit Cam Akers is going to make a Michigan visit in November.
Five-star running back Cam Akers is one of the most-sought-after recruits in the nation, and from the sounds of it, Michigan will get a crack at him before the season is over.
According to Sam Webb of TheMichiganInsider.com, the nation’s No. 2 running back and No. 4-overall recruit is expected to officially visit the Wolverines when they host Indiana.
Akers, from Clinton, Mississippi, originally committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide in August 2015, but backed off his pledge in March 2016.
Since then he’s visited Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia (twice), LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss (twice) and Tennessee (twice).
In addition to Akers, Michigan is also in the hunt for fellow five-star running backs Najee Harris, who’s currently committed to Alabama but isn’t 100%, and Stephen Carr, who’s currently committed to USC. Harris and Carr are the nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 players at their position, respectively.
The Wolverines currently have three running backs committed for the 2017 class – four-star O’Maury Samuels and three stars A.J. Dillon and Kurt Taylor.
UPDATE – Wolverine247 has confirmed that Akers will visit Michigan on Nov. 19.
